Arena - Rapture

Arena in Blue
Another DVD with Metal Mind, so you know what to expect, nice camera work, always the same venue, the bands don't have much to pay for this if they pay something, and everybody is happy! It gives exposure to the band and to Metal Mind Productions. This is the tour to promote the new cd of the band with the beautiful title "The Seventh Degree of Separation". This one contains shorter songs with a lot of punch and is the occasion to present the new singer Paul Manzi. This singer as a strong voice and strong arms, he must work out every day...

The new album is well represented here with 7 songs, the rest is a couple of tracks from their others cds. The music of Arena as always remind me of a heavier version of Pendragon with a strong Marillion influence, first period era. It's symphonic prog with a hard edge, and plenty of beautiful atmosphere with the master on keyboards, Clive Nolan.

The light show is dominate with plenty of blue and the stage is often immerse...

Ring the Bell

I wish there were more movies like this.
In a world jam-packed with movies glorifying, sex, violence, and obscene language, it is refreshing to see there are filmmakers who still care about making family-friendly films. This movie is all about lifting up the viewer and asking where their heart truly lies. There is not a moment I would be uncomfortable having my young kids watch this and that is rare. If you are looking for a movie with a great message that the whole family can enjoy, then Ring the Bell is for you!

VERY WELL DONE
THIS MOVIE SHOULD BE UP FOR AN AWARD FOR SURE.THE CAST AND STORY WAS VERY INTERESTING,AND WELL DONE.NO IT DOESN'T GEORGE CL0ONY OR MERYL STREEP,BUT HAS SOME FINE QUALITY ACTORS.A VERY ENJOYING MOVIE TO WATCH,AND THE WINNER IS RING THE BELL.

Love this movie!
This movie was filmed in my town and we had the honor of being extras. The cast and crew were so kind and friendly. My twins were ranch boys and filmed many days. Each day they started the day with a Bible study! The spirituality is evident in the film. Our church hosted the world premiere this week and we Loved the movie! It was fun to see people and places that are familiar but it was also wonderful to be a part of a movie that promotes Christ Jesus! I think you too will want to Ring the Bell!

Dead of Winter

Real Life
It is real life in the Alaskan bush. I do wish they would drop the hype about them starving if they dont get that fish or that moose or caribou. It just isnt so. Very few people now days are 100% subsistance. I personally have seen some of them shopping in Fred Meyers, a large grocery chain in Fairbanks. Stretching the truth on this issue is very misleading but adds to the show I guess.

Nice Escape
I really enjoy this series and hope they do many seasons to follow. It has a lot of insight into how people live, work and sometimes really struggle with the daily task of living a subsistence style life. The people are real, the scenery is excellent and the thought of just moving to Alaska is appealing... However I don't think my wife would go for it. Until that day I can watch on.

Yukon Men
My family and I watch every airing of this show. We love it and enjoy being able to watch it at anytime. Thank you for having it. Keep shows like this available.

Bones: Cast & Creators Live at PALEYFEST

Serious fan
I loved this event!!! I saw a side to David I did not expect, he's kinda silly. And Emily is even more beautiful in person than on the show.
I am so enamored I watch three and four reruns of the show in succession that air almost daily. I can't get enough!!
And I am very happy to hear they're going to explore the past personal issues with Sweets, as well as the other members. And can I say, he’s grown into quite a stud!
This special really gave insight as to the inner workings of my favorite show. I can’t wait for the next edition

And finally, the video quality was outstanding!!!!! I felt like I was there in the auditorium.

Love this series
Very entertaining. Sometimes lighthearted, sometimes not, but always entertaining. Can't wait for the next season to begin. Will definitely watch it.

Inside Bones
A fun look behind the characters of Bones as they interact with their fans & each other. Bonus for those of us who can't afford to attend Paley fest!

Fast & Furious (2009) (Blu-ray + Digital Copy + UltraViolet)

New Movie, Original Parts...
After three high-octane rides on the street racing scene, the fourth film in the "The Fast and the Furious" series features a departure from the flashy, overblown colors, obvious CGI-enhancement, and at times over-the-top stunts of the previous two films. With "Fast & Furious" the series returns to its roots with a grittier, more realistic leaning tone and reunites the primary players from the original film's cast of gearheads for more high speed mayhem.

"Fast & Furious" finds Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) continuing his lawless ways in the Dominican Republic alongside his girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and a new crew of velocity addicted miscreants. When the law begins to close in on Dom and his crew, difficult choices are made, plans are put into motion, and a life is lost. All of this forces Dom to return to his native Los Angeles on a quest for answers and to ultimately deal with those responsible. While back in town, Dom is reunited, albeit begrudgingly, with his...

Fun!
If you enjoy the series, you will continue to enjoy fast and furious! It pretty much feels like a real sequel of the original with the cast back! Alot of action, cars, american muscle, you name it! Decent storyline, but it's all about action and fast cars! The video quality is great as well and sound on a nice system!

Love It...
I have been a sucker for "Fast and Furious" movies ever since I saw the first one the opening night in the theater.

This one is no different. It's not a great movie by any means, but it's absolutely perfect if you like the others. I liked having Vin Diesel back in the action for the first time since the first movie (other than the tiny cameo at the end of "Tokyo Drift"). I also liked the plot to this one. It seemed to make a bit more sense than some of the other movies.

Overall, if you like "Fast and Furious" movies, then you don't need to be told that you need to add this one to your collection...

Touch of Love 3D - THE SENSUAL ENJOYMENT(Blu-ray 3D & 2D Version) REGION FREE

Not What You Think
I originally bought this at Amazon last January as a gag gift for a friend. This item never shipped! Amazon said the item is not available and maybe never will be available. So I just forgot about it.
Then last week,(6-26) I got a notice it shipped. Ok so I received it and decided to view it as the time had passed for the gag gift..
First the quality of the actual blu ray 3d is excellent. For those of you thinking this is fancy pornography, it isn't.

The woman in this video is absolutely beautiful. The guy is, well a big guy not particularly fit and certainly not in the league of this lady.

Each of them took an equal amount of time with each other. She was first, and the first 15 minutes was doing everything except what the title infers. It really focused on technique and not entertainment. No moaning and groaning, no drums in the background. This was intended as instructive and it was.

Her turn on him was far quicker to the...

Warning: instructional - 3D effect truly negligable
Ok, yes - i got a 3d set and wanted to see what 3D XXX looked like but didn't want a raunch-fest. What I got was the most R rated XXX there is - yes, there was oral shown in 3d - but it was clearly badl converted 3D and this is a waste of money - even at 4 bucks - it's a waste of space in your apt. If you have never had oral sex and want a starter course - maybe - other than that - forget it.

Experiences and Knowledge
I have already seen many films in this topic and I like these movies too so I am looking forward to get into my hands this massage production. The title shows a really useful and information rich topic. I am very exciting about this, what kind of experiences and knowledge would I receive from it.

Vintage Fashion Hunter

I want more!
Absolutely loved every episode. Worth your time and money. I hope there will be a season 2. I'm all in!

It's wonderful to watch someone so passionate about thier work.
Lot's of great art and fashion tidbits given as well as a wonderful lead "character" who really loves what she's doing.

Fun show for vintage fanatics
On the one hand, I find myself thinking this show isn't that great. On the other, I have watched every episode and some twice! But I collect vintage clothes and totally get the excitement of finding new pieces. She has some amazing clothes and that is what keeps me watching. It is a little heavy on the celebrity angle, but I understand that is what probably sold the show and would make it interesting to a broader audience. Doris is an interesting woman and I give her props for what she has accomplished. I find myself liking her, despite being super jealous of all of her clothes!

I also love Eric Braeden, but Jeanne was truly the icon of Y&R and will forever be in that role! If you love Y&R you will enjoy this DVD!

I love this series. I found another video also. The Young and the Restless is the only soap opera that I still watch. It is so interesting to see and hear the actors showing their real personalities and in unscripted conversaton.

Loved it
I'm a big Criminal Minds fan. I wish it was longer for the price, but I am extremely grateful to even have this available. It's right before It Takes a Village aired(season 7 premiere), so all of the questions are related to the premiere or season 7 in some way. If you're a big fan I would definitely suggest purchasing it. It's great to see them all interacting candidly. There are plenty of funny moments to enjoy. It does come on DVD-R, so it does play a little differently on my computer for some reason. No problems per say, but my controls on my media players don't work like normal with this dvd.

I'm really hoping some of the older ones become available, hint hint. ;)
Also, I ordered this on a Monday and received it on Thursday. Amazingly fast shipping.

It helped me understand the actors and their real personalities behind the cahracters seen on the television series over the years

I found the taping to be of very low quality, It looks to be made on low quality film. it was okay to watch

Mental [HD]

Tell your problems to whats-her-name!
It's a story too weird to be true -- after his wife is committed to a mental hospital, a neglectful politician hires a hitchhiker to care for his kids.

But it actually was true, and it happened to the family of Australian director P. J. Hogan when he was a child. Years later, he sculpted this too-weird-even-for-sitcoms story into a delightfully peculiar, over-the-top comedy with potty humor, musical numbers and the occasional pickled shark. But it has a bittersweet core about loss, disappointment and mental illness.

Sweet Shirley Moochmoore (Rebecca Gibney) is treated badly by everybody -- her cheating, neglectful husband Barry (Anthony Lapaglia), her snobby neighbor Nancy (Kerry Fox), her doll-obsessed sister Doris (Caroline Goodall) and even the girls at a local coffee shop. So she eventually has a nervous breakdown, and ends up in a mental institution.

Barry demands that his five daughters claim she's "on holiday in Wollongong," mainly because he's...

Absolutely Brilliant!
This movie has it all! Humour, heart, compassion, life lessons and on and on. Toni Colette gives an outstanding performance along with her co-stars.
It had me laughing and crying all at the same time. It will be one I will watch over and over again. Definitely one to buy..a keeper. Highly recommended!

SHE'S NOT HEAVY, SHE'S YOUR SISTER
Shirley (Rebecca Gibney) and her family of girls all think they are crazy. They self-diagnose from the Internet. Barry, their absentee father (Anthony LaPaglia), is also the mayor of the town. He decides to solve the issue by having Shirley committed and provides for the girls by putting Shaz (Toni Collette) in charge of them. He picked her up hitch hiking.

Shaz has her own way of doing things and explains that all of Australia is crazy. Her antics have an ulterior motive which we discover late in the film. Shaz has a refreshing brutal honesty to her approach.

The movie is a bit long. The first hour is zany and will have you laughing out loud. The film then shifts into a more serious mode, imitating a dark comedy up to the heart warming ending that brings it home from the opening. Good one P.J. Hogan.

The film is a must for quirky indie lovers.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, groping, brief nudity (Lily Sullivan, Sam Clark-rear)

Farewell to As the World Turns: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Nice reminiscence of classic soap.
For fans only -- a shaky but informative taped interview for those who want to get a bit of insight from the cast and crew of ATWT, days before the show wrapped for good.

great to see the cast but no clips of the show
had to send 1st disc back because it would not play in dvd player nor blu ray nor computer. received the 2nd a day or so later and viola enjoyed the presentation

Great! Only wish it was longer!
I thoroughly enjoyed this dvd. It was worth it for me seeing Kathryn Hays, Eileen Fulton and Don Hastings in this forum, it really made the dvd for me. I only wish it included scenes from the past. It would be great if episodes were released, even if it was only highlight episodes from stories over the years.

Switch

Excellent and Informative Film
This is a beautifully shot, unbiased film that discusses the major sources of our energy today. I found the material fascinating and highly educational. The approach is not overly technical and allows the viewer to come away with a much deeper understanding of our current energy needs and the challenges we face looking forward.

Switch
Switch takes the very complex issues of the world's energy -- availabilty of supply, economics, environmental friendliness, and dependability -- and weaves them into a comprehensive yet understandable mosaic. It's a beautiful film that takes the viewer to key energy sites across the globe to actually see how different people use and produce energy. We hear about what future energy sources may be and when the ultimate "switch" to wind, solar and other renewables might take place. It also motivates us to think about how we can personally influence the energy situation by "switching" attitudes toward taking more energy conservation measures. A truly entertaining, unbiased and informative film -- if you use energy, you've got to see it!

Excellent balanced review of the challenges of meeting the world's growing energy needs
This movie provides excellent facts revealing the magnitude of challenges facing energy providers to satisfy the world's growing need for energy. It recognizes that all sources of energy have environmental and societal impacts. I recommend viewing for all persons interested in economics, public policy and the environment.

Sea Tunt: Part II [HD]

$2/$3 Episodes *With* Ads?
I purchased every episode over the last season in HD at $3 a pop. Now they are putting ads in these? I appreciate everyone putting this information in the reviews so that I didn't pay for something I didn't expect. I will not purchase a single one of these episodes while they have commercials. It looks like I'll be waiting for Netflix to pick it up after the season is over without ads. I encourage anyone else that is put off by FX and Amazon allowing ads to do the same.

STOP THE ADVERTISMENTS
2 min of ad's isn't what we should pay for. I love this show and own the other 3 season's but amazon should know better than this.

Advertisements at beginning and end
So the show is funny as always (not peak Archer, but still great - let's say 4.5 stars), but there's a 15 second ad at the beginning and more at the end. My wife and I purchased this and there was no warning that we were paying for advertising. Lame, I expect to get the show and nothing else when I purchase.

Throw this bum out and get your life back!
This man, and I use that term loosely, needs to grow the he## up! He thinks he is still 17 years old and some sort of rocker wanna be. Mom needs to cut the cord and force him out. I thank my parents every single day for using tough love on me and making me accountable for myself and my actions. Too bad this mother did not do the same thing from day one. Disgusting, selfish, and childish!!

2 Episodes: an ex-L.A.Model & Kelly Jay from the band Crowbar
I only watched 2 episodes, reviewed below. These are your basic Horder Episodes, both without animals and icky trash. I like that, on Amazon, you can see the descriptions of the episodes. I don't watch any episodes that include animal hoarders or trash hoarders - those are just over-the-top gross. I am fascinated with the psychology aspect of the "item hoarders" though.

EPISODE: "One is Good, Two is Better":
Follows a retired L.A. model who hoards colorful toys and things. An only child, she has no kids or family left. Ron Jeremy is her friend and is shown being compassionate toward her hoarding problem - kind of sweet to witness.

EPISODE "I'm a Rock Star, Baby!":
Rock Star Hoarder from Canada - Kelly Jay from the band Crowbar. Not as intersting as I thought it would be. It didn't delve into the psychology much - just cleaned up his place. Some footage of him playing a reunion gig.

Very interesting
Strongly reminded me of a person I knew whose life ended tragically. Very difficult to help this person. -- John

Make Them Die Slowly (Cannibal Ferox) [VHS Retro Style] 1981

I Thought I Had Seen It All!
Happy New Year...I think! I spent the last two hours
watching my first flick of 2005, and just when I
thought I had seen it all, along comes Umberto Lenzi's
1981 horror classic "Cannibal Ferox". After the first
30 minutes I had a true understanding as to why this
feature has been banned in 31 countries. This deluxe
uncensored letterbox edition was filmed in New York City
and in the Amazon (very similar) Perhaps the movie
poster says it all. "Warrning! Due to its shocking
and violent subject matter, no one under 17 should
view this film." Seventeen??? I'm 55 and I'm not too
sure the ratings commission shouldn't have banned it
in this country. Believe it or not, I purchased it
from Amazon.com.

As most of you know, I am a horror film connoissseur.
This isn't horror...it's gore. Those who don't easily
feel nauseated over blood, guts and ooze, will adore
this "classic" (???). But be...

good dvd, interesting movie
The DVD itself is a very satisfying package - we get commentaries, a beautiful transfer. Whether the film itself really has any merit depends on personal taste really. For my money, this is not a patch on Deodato's excellent Cannibal Holocaust, which is just as gory and a hell of a lot more realistic, with believable actors and an intelligent script. In comparison, Ferox seems like just an exploitative rip-off. But taken in its own terms, Cannibal Ferox does deliver the goods (I'm talking gore-wise) with hard-to-watch sexual violence accompanying genuine animal deaths. The music is cheesy, and again not up to the standards of Holocaust, but it grows on you.

Overall, this Holocaust rip-off is obviously a must-buy for italian cannibal/gore fans (legions ahead of rubbish like Eaten Alive etc). People new to the genre may do best to check out Cannibal Holocaust (availible on import from europe) first, as it is cinematically far better although harder to watch. But if...

Good release, not so good film
I am a horror video fan and seeing that there are not that much reviews for the rerelease of this infamous video, I will contribute my opinion to the curious. The best parts of this release are the trailers, the director and actor commentary (they travelled all the way to Rome to interview Lenzi himself exclusively for the video), production stills, background on making the film, movie posters from other countries, and a very special "Cannibal survival kit" which is just too hilarious to reveal.

However, the movie itself is not at all the "most violent film ever made." It drags on a lot and takes a long time for the action to start going. It goes back and forth between city scenes and the amazon scenes, probably just to have a longer running time. Lots of zoom-ins of monkeys in trees...is Lenzi trying to say something? The monotonous music makes it even drag more. The pros are the gore, which feature realistic scenes of eye gouging, hanging by...

Eskrimadors

Very Exciting+Cool Moves
It's a very cool historical documentary film, I've seen too many martial arts films to get excited about the story flashback fights they've been in for respect, those bits I could forward. But when they show all the old grandmasters, moving really fast doing cool moves I haven't seen on youtube yet and explaining the principles behind them I get excited. Just slow mo it and you got an instructional dvd as well, not an intentional one so don't be upset if you think it isn't, but if you pick up moves fast then yes. The masters seem to want to show their best moves for the camera as well and all the different styles are brilliant to see. Being half filipino but not having looked into my cultural heritage, this makes me feel proud of my filipino side. My filipino grandfather was in the army and did this stuff.

I got a baby boy now and when he's older we'll go to the philippines, do some stick fighting training hopefully with some of these guys if they're still around and let us.

Eskrimadors
This is an excellent historical and cultural view into the arts of Kali, Arnis de Mano and Escrima. Anybody who studies the Filipino Martial arts should have a copy. There's knowledge here that cannot be replaced.

Eskrimadors
This DVD about the history is Eskrima is a great documentary on the start and progress of filipino martial arts.

Wheels on Meals

Action & Comedy... What a mix...
One of Jackie Chan's all time best movies, and for good reason. What made Jackie Chan was seamless action, charm, and wit. This movie has more of each than anything else out there. It has some of the best fight scenes of Jackie Chan, Benny Urquidez, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao's careers (including the fight between Chan and Urquidez, arguably the best fight scene ever filmed)! It's also one of the funniest and most charming of all the movies Chan and friends have done. The memorable characters are what have defined Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao as actors! Somewhat of an obscure movie that didn't get the credit it deserved in the United States, this movie is a must see for anyone even remotely likes Jackie Chan movies. Also look for Project A, Armour of God, Operation Condor (Armour of God 2), Police Story, Supercop (Police Story 3), Rumble in the Bronx, First Strike, Mr. Nice Guy, and Dragons Forever.

Old School
A classic collaboration between "the brothers", Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, and Yuan Biao, directed by Hung and packed with all the familiar faces of 80's Hong Kong cinema and also the amazing skills of real life kickboxing champion Benny "the Jet" Urquidez.

The story, set in Spain, is one of how two workaholic Chinese (Chan and Biao) and their gormless detective friend Moby (Hung) get pulled around by the nose by a working girl/countess while trying to protect her from her evil uncle, a count, who wants to stop her inheriting what is rightfully hers.

Plenty of action, plenty of Hong Kong humour, plenty of kicking and jumping around. The finale fight is one of the best ever recorded, and is from a team that didn't use CGI, didn't use wires and didn't let unfit actors do their own fighting. These guys know what they are doing, and it shows. Highly recommendable.

Chan vs "The Jet" part 1
Jackie Chan versus Benny "The Jet" in the last fight is all you need to know to buy this movie. It is the best fight I have ever seen in any movie ever.

Wheels on Meals is a comedy first, keep that in mind. Dont watch this expecting it to be an action packed Jackie Chan movie cause its not. This is the funnest movie Jackie Chan has ever done though. If you want a great comedy then this is for you.

Jackie and Yuen Biao sell food from a "hi-tech" (hi-tech for early 80s) van, all computerized with the works. This movie takes place in Barcelona, Spain. Jackie and Yuen both fall for a gorgeous woman, she keeps getting in trouble (being a thief and all)and they keep helping her out even though she steals their money everytime. Sammo pretends to be a Private Investigator and is hired to find the woman Jackie and Yuen keep helping. Lots of laughs throughout the film.

The only real action in the movie is the car chase scene involving there van, and...

Great Story Whose Execution Misses Both Suspense And Heart: An Uncharacteristic Misfire From The Reliable BBC
I am a huge supporter of BBC entertainment, not to mention a fan of David Tennant from way back. For me, "Spies of Warsaw" was one of the can't miss propositions of the season. There is an absolutely tremendous story of World War II intrigue and heroism at the center of this production, it seems impossible that this television miniseries didn't work on almost any level. The narrative is choppy, the characters are underdeveloped, and Tennant seems devoid of emotion throughout. Moments of "Spies of Warsaw" should have been both heartbreaking and harrowing, but (no matter what happened) I remained strangely apathetic throughout. In every instance, just as it seemed like something was about to happen, the film cuts away to another location. While the first part isn't terrible, more uninvolving than anything, it looked like we were on track for the second part to ratchet up the human drama and suspense. Any hope I had, however, for an upswing came to a crashing halt as the cliffhanger is...

An Evocative Drama
I am a huge fan of Alan Furst, so I was really happy to see a screen adaptation of one my favorite authors. It turns out this is actually a mixture of "Spies of Warsaw" with bits of "The Polish Officer" thrown in, but they did blend the two in a way that fit very well. The cast is excellent, the settings are authentic, and the overall feel of the series is a fairly worthy rendition of the books.

I did have a few minor problems with the series, however. The screenplay adds in a lot of things that aren't in either book, and they tend to hinder the story rather than help it, in my opinion. This is especially noticeable in the relationship between Jean-Francois and Anna, but there are a lot of other scenes with added content that is jarring for someone who read the books first. still, this is pretty minor, and none of the extra scenes are really deal-breakers.

"Spies of Warsaw" is a top-notch drama. It's evocative and intriguing and you can enjoy it as a love story,...

Disappointed
I was surprised to be, disappointed.....as a rule ALL BBC productions are 5 star: excellent.
I might watch this again to see if I change my mind, I did read the book and that was terrific.

The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate

Great!
Dragon Inn is one of my favorite movies (Maggie Cheung!). This is a sequel of sorts with much of the action taking place in the same inn. References are made to the first film, and there are some similarities in the plots. I'm a great fan of HK martial arts films, and this one satisfied in every respect, story, cinematography (3D!), acting and action. Tsui Hark directed. Jet Li did much of the heavy lifting in the action department, but all of the actors and actresses made significant contributions. The ladies are very lovely and very lethal. (Would we want them any other way?) This is being billed as the first HK actioner in 3D, and the 3D is used very effectively. The same 3D cameras James Cameron uses were used filming this apparently. Another first I'm sure is a fight sequence inside a tornado. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that before. So, to sum up, the film is highly recommended if you're into this kind of movie or if you're looking for a good addition to...

Convoluted and bogged down by sloppy special effects
It's been 23 years since Jet Li has worked with Tsui Hark and you'd expect something with better results or at least a final product that doesn't feel so cluttered. At times, it's difficult to distinguish the difference between the heroes and the villains. During the time of the Ming Dynasty, the emperor's eunuchs came into power and divided themselves into the East Bureau and the West Bureau. Eunuchs in both bureaus abused their power and were notorious for being some of the most corrupt individuals around, but the West Bureau was the more feared of the two. Stuck in the middle is a vigilante named Zhou Huai'an (Li), a skilled swordsman who rejects both Bureaus and desires order to be restored to the royal throne.

That summary doesn't sound all that complicated, but once Dragon Gate and its innkeepers are introduced along with Zhang Xiao Wen (Kwai Lun-mei) and her tribe and the wandering Gu Shaotang (Li Yuchun) and her traveling partner Wind Blade (Chen Kun) who looks...

Doesn't disappoint!
I watched the original New Dragon Gate Inn a long time ago and that was a great film as well with excellent actors back then. Maggie Cheung, Brigitte Lin, Tony Leung, Donnie Yen...the original had an amazing cast with some solid actors that it'd be hard to outdo it. I wasn't sure what to expect with this version going in but I figured it wouldn't be exactly the same. I much prefer the story line of this one. It was similar in some areas but not really. There were characters in this version that wasn't present in the original but it was done well. The film was beautifully shot with some wonderful scenic views and was just pretty to watch. I had the Blu-ray so the movie was super crisp and clear. I didn't realize that this movie was filmed in 3d at first but the effects were still great in 2d. You can definitely tell how it will look in 3d in some areas but the CGI was done very well. I watched a ton of Asian cinema growing up since I'm Asian, and I love wuxia movies. I love...

Drunken Master 2

Blu-ray: Not the best PQ, missing Chinese audio, not the original cut - A definite upgrade from the original US DVD
In 1978, Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master" (or Jui Kuen) was an exciting film that is considered a classic and help popularize the drunken boxing style of martial arts which has been copied on various video games and other films. Over 16 years later, Chan returned for "Drunken Master II" (Jui Kuen II) which was not a direct sequel but followed the character with the same name, Wong Fei Hung.

For those not familiar with the name Wong Fei-hung (or Hong), the real man lived from 1847 through 1924 and was a master of the no-shadow kick, drunken boxing, the lion dance and Hung fist. The character has been explored in a number of films which include the Jet Li "Once Upon a Time in China" films and for Jackie Chan in the "Drunken Master" films

The film revolves around a man named Wong Fei Hung who travels with his father (a doctor) and a student named Tsao via train after obtaining more medicine to bring back home. But because they must pay duty fees for the items they...

Simply the best Martial Arts Film ever made
I know some of you will disagree and say that Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon", or Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" was the best ever made but I would have to disagree. While Bruce Lee was the best Martial Artist ever, his movies were average in regards to their fight choreography. No one could ever touch him in his films. The fight choreography in "Drunken Master 2" was incredible. It was realistic because there were almost no wire stunts involved and the fight scenes were fantastic. The fight scene with Jackie and Liu Chia Liang (Lau Kar Leung) in the beginning was pure poetry in motion. The final fight scene was fifteen minutes of pure adrenaline pumping action. Unique choreography makes this movie a classic. Unlike Jet Li's characterization of Wong Fei Hung, Jackie makes Fei Hung seem more human and vulnerable. Nobody could ever touch Jet Li in the "Once Upon a Time in China" series. Plus some of the moves just look so ridiculously fake...

The Best of Jackie Chan!
Not only does this movie raise the bar for fighting choreography, but it has so many other facets that make it a movie to be appreciated by movie lovers of all genre's. I won't dwell on the martial arts aspect. There have been plenty of reviews that have addressed the fact that this movie's fight scenes mark the greatest efforts of a martial arts wonder like Jackie Chan. There is no single martial arts talent in the West that can even compare to Hong Kong greats like Jackie. I would prefer to point out that unlike most martial arts pictures ( and unfortunately this includes some of Jackie's too) this picture has a quality story and great characters too. So much so that I have seen people who can't stand martial arts pictures really enjoy this one. Viewers will be amazed by the martial arts ability while they laugh at the antics of Jackie playing the young mischievous Fei Hung and Anita Mui playing his equally mischievous step-mother. This movie truly represents the...

Summer '04

Somber.....Leaves You Wondering...
The recent films from Germany that I've seen, have been for the most part truly amazing. Something that's been missing since the heyday of the German newwave of the 70's and early 80's. This unassuming entry from 2006 "Sommer '04" ("Summer '04) and directed by Stefan Krohmer was no exception. Our film is about a nice married couple 'Miriam' (Martina Gedeck - "Das Leben der Anderen" 2006, "Der Baader Meinhof Komplex" 2008) and 'Andre' (Peter Davor), who are on summer holiday with their son 'Nils' and his 12 year old girlfriend 'Livia' (Svea Lohde). Their plans were to basically just enjoy sailing along the fjords of the Schlei (between the North and the Baltic sea). When one day a stranger appears - 'Bill' (Canadian-born Robert Seeliger), who develops a close bond with precocious yet sensitive - 'Livia'. But don't worry this is not a 'Lolita' tale, it is so much more. For one thing the acting by the entire cast, but especially the gifted Martina Gedeck and the young Svea Lohde were...

Moody character study
The stranger in this German flick is an American actor who speaks decent German. He woos a 13-year-old girl, then woos her boyfriend's mother in a love triangle that goes awry. Beautifully shot in the German countryside, this film is a lean examination of motives and intents and what happens when expectations are not met. Way better than the average Hollywood adult melodrama.

ok movie
The story line was not great and the characters were not that believable,
I am not sure if the writers know how to write a good plot

Great to get an understanding of the early plans Jimmy had for the show and comparing them to how the show has evolved. Jimmy has a real sense of fun and imparts it into the show. If I didn't know better I would say he was Canadian!

Hurray!!
This show just makes me so happy. Love all of the characters, and it's been too long since we've seen them. It's so random!!!

I am so happy to see that Cougar Town is back! This is one of those great, sometimes pointless, shows that make me so happy! 3 cheers for Cougar Town!

Not as funny
I enjoyed seasons 1-3 but this season is not as funny and more raunchy. The move from network TV to basic cable has changed the style of the show.

In the Field with Archer: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

awkward and unfunny
ugh....just difficult to watch and a wasted opportunity

Paley is usually much much better

the jokes that fail are just too much

Boring
I don't think that David Cross was the best comedian to host this program. It was okay though. Only for true Archer fans.

For fans of alternative comedy ONLY!
All the low reviews are from people lacking the ability to understand and appreciate sarcastic humor. Honestly, I'm not sure what they even get out of Archer, as I assume they would only watch this if they watch the show.
For the one saying Jon Benjamin walked out, you obviously didn't even watch the whole thing. It was a bit! David Cross and JB do this sort of stuff all the time in their comedy - and it's awesome!
Other points of interest: Amber Nash talking about how offended her mother is by the show, Chris Parnell's failed relationship with the woman from FX, the unusual way the Q&A session was moderated, and Adam Reed's reaction to 9/11.
So, if your idea of comedy is little more than Jeff Foxworthy, DO NOT watch this. It is not for you, you won't get it, and you will hate yourself for wasting the tiny bit of brain cells you have left.
For alternative comedy fans out there, enjoy!

Dolphin Tale

WONDERFUL!! Will walk away feeling this movie..
Just wanted to take a moment out to say a few words about this film. I do not go to movie theaters much due to their costs ever rising. I usually wait for dvd anymore. This one we actually did go see on the big screen. My 5 yr old wanted to see it. I took her and my mother to go see it and we ALL loved it. It will make you laugh, and cheer and even get teary eyed. It is not super depressing like some animal films. Instead it shows hope, courage, faith and perseverance and how people can come together and make things happen through trials. Great cast, cute movie. Best part is it is based on a true story. so cool. We will be buying this one when it comes out for sure!! I highly recommend this movie to anyone, kids or no kids..

An inspirational, feel good movie for the entire family!
My husband and I took our first-grader to watch this beautiful, uplifting movie this past weekend and had the most wonderful time. When the movie ended, the audience broke out in spontaneous applause, that's how much this movie affected all of us. Dolphin Tale is the story of overcoming the odds, of love between family and love among friends, and of courage and resilience.

Set in Clearwater, Florida and inspired by a true story (yes, there is a real Winter the Dolphin!), the story centers on a young boy Sawyer (Nathan Gamble in a finely nuanced performance) who is portrayed as being despondent at the beginning of the movie - he is sad that his cousin,Kyle (Austin Stowell) a champion swimmer is going away to serve the country as a soldier. Kyle is Sawyer's role model and mentor, and the closest thing he has to a 'dad' figure given his own father left the family when he was very young. Sawyer's mom, Lorraine (Ashely Judd) tries her best to cope and provide for Sawyer, but she...

A well-crafted tale that everyone can enjoy
Dolphin Tale is, first and foremost, a great family movie. What I mean by that is that everyone - kids and adults alike - can enjoy it and never feel either bored or like they're being talked down to. A lot of craftsmanship went into the making of this movie and it shows, mainly in how seamlessly it flows and how well everything fits together.

The movie centers around the true story of Winter, a young bottlenose dolphin found on a beach in coastal Florida whose tail was injured and ended up having to be amputated. The humans taking care of Winter ultimately had to create a prosthetic tail in order for her to survive, and in the process she became an inspiration to many, from children who were born missing a limb to veterans who had lost limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In Dolphin Tale, the plot begins with Sawyer (Nathan Gamble), a young boy who's been withdrawn ever since his father left the family five years earlier and who's having to deal with his older cousin...

The Lucky One

Truly representative of the most important lessons of our lives.....
As a writer and philosopher, this movie in particular just blew me away. The first time I saw the previews for it, I remember thinking that it seemed to have an interesting quality to it which appealed to both my intellectual trades mentioned above. The first time I saw it, I was just blown away, as have I been in the three other times I've gone to see it.

Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) comes off as being the kind of character who you can really learn a lot from in terms of lust plain old life experiences in general. What other people brand as being 'mushy' or 'cheesy' I see as being the truth towards understanding how no matter what hand of cards you're dealt in your life, there is always hope. All you got to to is go and find it. Logan finds himself in this situation while on deployment in the Middle East, where a single, split second decision to pick up a photo amidst a pile of rubble undoubtedly comes to change the course of his entire life. After coming to the realization...

...only in the movies, but that's why we go to the movies...
I have this subversive image of Nicholas Sparks in a wifebeater at the computer, angrily pounding the keyboards and listening to death metal while a burly biker gives him a tat. Because a guy can't be that wholesome and sensitive, can he? Except that, like clockwork, Sparks' bestselling novels keep getting made into films. THE LUCKY ONE is merely the latest adaptation.

This is Hollywood, babe, so we shouldn't harp on them heaps of uncanny coincidences. Such as these: In Iraq, the morning after a harrowing exchange of gunfire with the enemy, U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) gets off his duff and picks up a photo he glimpses lying in the rubble. Suddenly, there's an explosion right where he had been sitting, and that's when the notion probably first struck him that the photo is some sort of lucky charm. Eight months later, Logan's third tour of duty ends and he's going home, that photo still tucked away in his keeping. Logan regards the mysterious girl in the...

Montage Sparks and the perfect man
Being the only male in the audience on a Friday afternoon, pretty much tells you what you are getting with "The Lucky One". As the lights came up as the credits rolled, I turned around to see myself standing among fifteen to twenty women, some were teared up, some weren't. Nicholas Sparks, the writer of the novel, has made a career off of books and movies that touch people's hearts. The biggest of those was "The Notebook", but "A Walk to Remember" & "Message in a Bottle" were notable as well.

While most of Spark's novels are tailor made for women, I found "The Notebook" to be something that everything could relate to with its theme of Alzheimer's. "The Lucky One" on the other hand, had many opportunities to reach a broader audience but brush stroked over those. I enjoyed "The Lucky One", but for some reason, it didn't quite affect me like "The Notebook" did. That may be because it didn't spend enough time in certain areas.

First of all, Zac Effron (High School...

Legend Of The Fist

How would Huo Yuanjia feel about this?
Donnie Yen returns as Chen Zhen in what could be deemed a sequel to Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury" aka "Chinese Connection" (1972), Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" (1994), or Yen's own "Fist of Fury" Chinese television series, from 1995. Or perhaps even the 3rd film following Yuen Woo Ping's "Legend of a Fighter" (1982) or Jet Li's "Fearless" (2006). Luckily the movie's much easier to sort out than my explanation of the work that sequentially preceded it! ALL are great films but none are necessary to view prior to this.

The film starts out in France at the end of WW1. I don't recall how much time elapses between then and when Chen Zhen returns home but I didn't think that Japan entered China until 1931, though the gap was probably explained and I missed it. He joins a group of rebels and, under the pseudonym of a deceased comrade, becomes part owner of a large night club run by Chinese fat-cats who plan to profit from war, civil or otherwise. In preventing an attack on a Chinese...

Wow!!!!!!!!!! Donnie Yen at his best!
If you like Ip Man, like I did, you will like this movie. Period. I didn't realize it at the time, but this is a sort-of remake of Bruce Lee's FIST OF FURY which Jet Li already remade as "FIST OF LEGEND". No surprise, I liked all three of these movies, all done by true martial arts masters. This DVD is fantastic. Excellent picture quality, clear, accurate subtitles, and special features. You can't go wrong with this purchase. I hear this will be released in USA theaters in 2011, and that it might be cut. This DVD is apparently uncut as I compared the running time with the running time in IMDB.

Donnie Yen Has Finally Made It
With recent heaters like The Ip Man Series, Kill Zone, Dragon Tiger Gate, Flashpoint, Seven Swords, and 14 Blades on his resume, Donnie Yen has finally made it. This sequel to Bruce Lee's classic Fist Of Fury (The Chinese Connection) or Donnie's Fist Of Fury films (depending on how you look at it) is brilliant. It's a classic Kung Fu movie, a super hero flick, a love story, and a war epic all rolled up in one with a great cast including Shu Qi, Shawn Yue, The Great Anthony Wong, and Yasuaki Kurata. Seven years after his alleged death, Chen Zhen returns to champion his fellow Chinese in 1920's Shanghai during The Japanese Oppression. He conveniently finds a Kato uniform that fits him perfectly and becomes a one man wrecking crew....again. After seeing Donnie in the Kato suit and remembering Jet Li in Black Mask, I'm not all that excited about Jay Chou in the upcoming Green Hornet film. I'll see it and return with an honest review but I'm not expecting much. As long as Hong Kong...

The Outlaw- Episode 2: Enter Lilith

The Outlaw part 2, Enter Lillith continues the mini series
The second part to the Outlaw, Enter Lillith, continues where the first episode left off. A very complex story of a chessmatch between God and Satan, using people as pawns in a struggle between good and evil. The story is very evolving and draws you in. The music is excellent and the Heavy Metel score, is everpresent. There are 17 episodes to go and this mini serie has a great cast and excellent music. The Lilith is a sensual seductress that seduces men, while being able to change herself into different woman. It is a combination of a heavy metel musical and a biblical story. Great camera work and excellent special effects and intense music work together to make this a great mini series. I look forward to the other chapters.

The Fiction

THE NEW HITCHCOCK!
What made Alfred Hitchcock so great is that he was innovative and change the face of suspense thrillers forever. Danny Dileo has done such things with this film. A beautiful story with an incredible twist, this film fires on all cylinders. For those who are ready to witness something revolutionary in the world of film I highly recommend the fiction!!

a cunning punch to the brain
"The Fiction" comes from the fresh mind and heart of a daring new writer/director, Danny DiLeo. I think it was about a year or more than a year ago when I first got in touch with Mr. DiLeo, for we have the same interests such as, films, stories, writing, characters, filmmaking etc. It was back then when he mentioned to me his first project is titled "The Fiction." And, I have been following up with the process since then so I could stay updated with the project.

Months back I caught the trailer for the film and I was intrigued. I immediately contacted him back and told him to make sure to send me the copy when it's all done. Well, he kept his promise and I received the copy about few days ago and had the chance to watch "The Fiction."

The Fiction tells the story of "Werther Oaks', an established author who develops writer's block. He is in the midst of creating his next masterpiece, but his novel is at a dead end, which is a challenge Werther has never had to...

Great and Insighful!
Rookie filmmaker Danny DiLeo's breakout film, The Fiction, provides a triple delight, one part Alfred Hitchcock, one part Stephen King, and one part Rod Serling. In this ambitious effort as writer, producer, and director, DiLeo breaks both rules and boundaries, delivering an entertaining and lingering cinematic experience. Screenwriters are preached, often to the point of exhaustion to "write what they know, refrain from having people talk to themselves, and avoid dream sequences." DiLeo breaks the rules with a twist-laden, thought-provoking plot line.

Lead character Werther Oaks's (Eric Hammer) writer's block echoes The Shining, with slippages into Being John Malkovich surrealism, while intellectually yanking us back with a plot thread akin to Secret Window. At times, this film's dialogue came across as overly expository, but overall was sparse enough to let the story flow. The story delves into the minds of several characters, but to reveal the outcome would prejudice the...

Snoop Lion - Reincarnated

Self-serving but fascinating
This is a very interesting look into Snoop Lion's inner psyche, but it falls short in that we see more of what he wants to be like than what he is actually like right now. Peeks into the lack of full self-disclosure are snippets of Snoop's reaction when asked about why he feels vulnerable after giving up his guns. It is undoubtedly very difficult to shake off a past like Snoop's, and I admire him for trying to do so, but he apparently has some way to go, as reflected by Bunny Wailer's public renunciation of Snoop as a Rastafarian even before this documentary came out. It would have been much more interesting to have the opposing view of Snoop from the Rastafarian perspective, good and bad, as this superstar is trying to reinvent himself. In the end, it is more of a self-serving wannabe paean than a real documentary. I gave it three stars because it is fascinating to watch Snoop talk about himself and his past and there is at least the appearance of some genuine insight during some...

Great movie!

Sons of Anarchy: Cast & Creators Live at PALEYFEST

Well done
The show is great. Character, writing, just about everything fits in this show. This interview was so natural. It is refreshing to see something normal on TV. Not so artificial like many other shows.

Good Stuff for SOA fans!
I watched SOA Season 1 thru 4 just days after Charlie Hunnam was cast as Christian Grey (yes...I am going there!) I was ready to protest the casting because his was not on MY short list...how dare they!!!

My bestie told me not to sleep on Charlie and she reminded me she told me I would enjoy SOA some 3 seasons ago. I binge watched on her word and became an instant fan and probably a SOA/ Hunnam addict! I was unable to stream Season 5 on Netflix with only 6 days before Season 6 was to premiere so I contemplated purchasing Season 6 via Amazon Instant for $31.

Streaming the Live at PALYFEST was the push I needed to make the purchase. Seeing Kurt Sutter and most of the cast (no Charlie or Ron) talk about the show sealed the deal. Watching the actors talk about their roles and each other seemed like a true love fest for us fans! Taking questions from the audience made me feel as if I could have been there.

Good interview panel!
Very enjoyable look at what goes on behind the scenes on SOA. The panel had most of the actors, had a good moderator, and went well over an hour. I wish I could find more shows like it to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes.

Psych: A Twin Peaks Gathering: Cast Members Live at the Paley Center

Interesting!
If you're a fan of Psych and/or Twin Peaks, this is an interesting hour discussing the phenomenon that was Twin Peaks and the Psych episode, "Dual Spires" which was a clever and fun homage to David Lynch's foray into network television. If you haven't already seen "Dual Spires," I would recommend watching it before listening to this moderated discussion, and if you're a Psych fan who never saw Twin Peaks, go watch that first so you can fully appreciate what a great job the Psych cast and crew did. Keep in mind the emphasis is on Twin Peaks, so if you are looking for lots of detail about Psych, you are better off watching the excellent commentaries on the Psych DVDs, but fans of both shows will enjoy hearing these actors talk about this collaboration and the show that inspired it.

A little slow, but funny
The episode itself was excellent.. this retrospective, not so much. The interviewer didn't keep things moving, so the pacing was slow. This was funny at times, and not bad by any means,

Got a better idea of how the actors are outside of character, love that they have such good chemistry and are funny.
